St Jean sits on the major scenic motoring route, Route des Grandes Alpes, which if, you wish, will take you all the way to the Mediterranean.
From Geneva Airport there are two routes:
· the “valley route” via Thonon-les-Bains (Route des Grande Alpes) · the “motorway route” via Cluses.
The valley route is a little shorter in time and stays at a lower elevation which means that you are less likely to encounter snow on the road in getting to St Jean.
The motorway route heads towards Chamonix before turning off at Cluses and heading for Les Gets over the top (where you are more likely to encounter snow) and into the Morzine valley.
We will provide you with a detailed location map showing how to find the chalet and our Local Agent (only a few doors away) when you book the Chalet.
Valley Route Leaving Geneva Airport head into the centre of the City before turning off along the N5 to Thonon-les-Bains.
At Thonon take the signs to Morzine and La Route Grandes Alpes on the D902.
The route through Geneva is straightforward and quick, nothing like what driving through a strange city sounds like. It has the added benefit of seeing Lake Geneva close up and the fountain for which it is world famous. All UK bookshops sell Geneva maps and we will include the route on our instructions.
Motorway Route Driving out of Geneva Airport, follow the signs for the motorway to Chamonix and the Vallee Blanche.
Keep on the motorway until Cluses where you exit and head for Taninges and then Les Gets and Morzine on the D902. The motorway is a payage (toll) and you will need to find a few euros at two sets of booths before you exit.
Once on the outskirts of Morzine the D902 bears left and heads north for St Jean d’Aulps (about 6 kilometres).

Chalet Belle Dranse is in St Jean d’Aulps, very close to Morzine and in the Portes du Soleil. It is very easy to find in summer or winter. It is secluded but close to the village centre, close to the main valley road but quiet and with fields around.
St Jean is about an hour and a quarter from Geneva Airport and a little over ten minutes drive to the main Portes du Soliel ski lifts.
