St Jean has two restaurants and two bars as well as all the shops you’ll need within walking distance.  There is a large supermarket on your way to the slopes and lots of other bars and restaurants in Morzine and the surrounding villages.

Supermarkets

The nearest supermarket, Champion, is also the main one in the area and is only a few minutes away on the main road towards Morzine.  It will have everything you need from a more than acceptable wine selection and large cheese counter to tissues and suncream.

Restaurants

St Jean has two restaurants – L’Armanderie and the Feu Follet.  L’Armanderie also has a bar.  All cannot be missed as they are on the main street besides being at most five minutes walk from the Chalet.

Morzine has lots of restaurants and it’s really a case of driving in and having a look.  There are a few address cards on the Chalet’s pin board.

In close-by villages there is a lovely basic Auberge in Essert Romand and a very good value two star Hotel restaurant, Les Tilleuls, in Le Biot.  Both easily accessible in the winter by car and serve great food.  The Auberge is very child friendly.  The food at les Tilleuls is more up market but you can still dress casually.  The chef/owner speaks good “american”.

Bars

The second bar in St Jean is Le Bar National where you can watch football and rugby matches.  It is owned by and English couple and quite often will be staffed by English or Antipodeans.  It opened a year ago and is well used by local people too, particularly immediately after skiing.

For bars outside of St Jean in the winter look no further than Morzine. There’s a lot to choose from.  The Dixie Bar being the most well known as it has several TV screens and serves British beer.  Again you’ll find Antipodeans behind the bar!

Text Box: Food and Drink
Chalet Belle Dranse

As you’re renting a large chalet for your holiday no doubt you intend to look after yourselves for at least some of the time.  If it’s the summer then eating outside in the sunshine will be on the agenda.  You’ll probably want to go out to a restaurant or two at lunchtime or evenings and find a bar occasionally.
