The basement car park facility has your own personal car parking space and infra red entrance door security key.  It includes a ski locker for your skis and boots as well as a large personal cave for suitcases and bikes.  A lift leads from the car parking and cave directly to the second floor and the apartment.

 

All of the apartments are privately owned and most are to be used solely by their owners for their own holidays. 

 

Rue du Docteur Paccard leads quickly to the main square, Place Balmat, around which can be found several excellent restaurants and one of the best choclatiére chocolate shops anywhere in the world.  Both are named after the first two people to ascend Mont Blanc which led directly to Chamonix’s fame.  Chamonix held the first ever Winter Olympics in 1924.   

 

Summer

The views and the mountain air are breath-taking, particularly if you use the major cable cars and mountain trains to get you to the top.  There are glaciers, lakes and gorges to explore as well as churches and museums to discover.  Playing the 18-hole golf course is a delight.  Concerts, piano bars and cinemas add to the possibilities.

 

Use Chamonix as a touring base as many did in its early twentieth century heyday and drive into Switzerland to Martigny, Montreux and beyond or Italy through the Mont Blanc tunnel into the beautiful Aosta valley and maybe as far as Turin.  See beautiful Annecy, the “Venice of the Alps”, and drive slowly through Burgundy on the way to Chamonix.

 

 

Winter

World famous as a skiing location the slopes are spread along the whole of the valley providing somewhere for everyone.  Argentiere, at the top of the valley, is renowned for its top class skiing at Les Grand Montets and Le Tour provides skiing for beginners and intermediates.  For the slightly more adventurous there’s the day long Valley Blanche to experience under the direction of a ski guide which is unforgettable.

Built by a leading Italian developer in the Alps the apartment is one of less than twenty in the redevelopment of the Hôtel des Alpes, famous for its landmark tower, which represented the peak of Chamonix’s fame in its belle époque heyday of the early twentieth century, matching Paris for its style.
